Immigration Attorney Memphis TN. Memphis Lawyer. Immigration Law.
Hi, I'm Stacie.
I am an immigration attorney with more than 10 years of experience. I currently work as a contract attorney, providing "behind the scenes" assistance to attorneys, allowing them to best serve their clients. I believe that everyone deserves excellent and compassionate representation as they navigate the complex immigration system in the United States. I have a special fondness for nonprofit immigration work, having worked at such an organization for eight years, and I strive to continue supporting that work. I hope to attract both nonprofit organizations and attorneys/firms who need additional support, whether that's through mentoring, casework assistance, or something else.
Let's TalkMy Services
My areas of specialty include Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, U and T Nonimmigrant Status, and VAWA, although I am familiar with a variety of casetypes. I do not do any consular processing or employment-based immigration work.
Mentoring
I provide one-on-one mentoring to attorneys regarding Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, U and T Nonimmigrant Status, and VAWA. This can be via video call, phone call, or email. Mentoring calls are usually available within 1-3 days of request.
Case Work Assistance
Attorneys assign me specific tasks on a case and provide me the evidence or information and any templates I need to complete the assignment. Such tasks include reviewing/editing client declarations; drafting cover letters, RFE responses or other legal arguments; form preparation, and case review.
Please note:
- I do not work directly with clients. The firm/organization is responsible for gathering evidence/information from the client and communicating directly with the client.
- I do not enter G-28s or E-28s for firm/organization clients.
Technical Assistance
I’m available both via email and for scheduled calls or video calls to answer legal questions. If I don’t have the answer immediately, I do research and provide a written response to the question. For one nonprofit, I join their weekly team meeting to discuss case issues that have arisen that week.
COVERAGE FOR TEMPORARY ATTORNEY LEAVE
When an attorney is out on temporary leave (disability, parental, sabbatical), their case work still requires attention and completion. I am available to step in and assist the remaining staff during this absence (whether through case work assistance or technical assistance), to ensure clients continue to be served during the attorney’s leave.
Trainings for organization/firm staff
Have a case type or topic that you want your associates, paralegals, or admin staff to know more about? I’d be happy to provide trainings on humanitarian-type cases.
I also host monthly T Visa 101 trainings that are open to all immigration attorneys and support staff (up to 10 attendees) and offer T Visa 101 and T Visa declaration trainings for firms.
Nonprofit Specific Services
Development of trainings and community events
Often, nonprofits are interested in hosting community events and trainings for their staff, but do not have the capacity to develop the materials for such events. I am available to create those materials. For example, one of my nonprofit clients wanted to host asylum information sessions within their community. I prepared a PowerPoint presentation and handouts for their event and trained their staff on how to run the information session.
Mentorship of Pro Bono attorneys
As a former Pro Bono Coordinator, I understand the significant staff time it takes to mentor pro bono attorneys to ensure they are properly completing the case assigned to them. I am available to provide that technical assistance to pro bono attorneys. This could be on-demand or through weekly “Pro Bono Hours” where I am available through Google Meets for pro bono attorneys to drop in and ask questions or discuss their cases.
DOJ Recognition and Accreditation
I am available to assist nonprofits in applying for Recognition and/or Accreditation or serving as the required technical assistance attorney for DOJ accredited representatives.
Other Needs of the Organization
I am open to discussing other needs of an organization to determine whether I can assist!
Costs
All of my work is done on an hourly rate basis, billed by the quarter of the hour.
Discounts / Monthly Memberships
• New Nonprofits: Hourly rate discounts are available to nonprofit organizations whose immigration programs are fewer than 5 years old.

Stacie has been an invaluable asset for our nonprofit immigration law firm. Our team has the privilege of working closely with her on numerous cases through the technical assistance she provides. Our team and clients have benefitted significantly from her expertise, guidance and extensive knowledge of immigration law. Not only is she a fantastic attorney and advocate, but she is also a great teacher. Her assistance has allowed our team to expand our own knowledge and experience in this ever-changing and complex field. Stacie also has a tangible passion for helping the immigrant community and you can see that in her work. Her down-to-earth ways make it easy for anyone in our team to approach her with any questions we may have. Recently, Stacie also provided our team with a fantastic training on T-Visas, a process that involves many elements and critical thinking. Stacie did an awesome job of conveying that information in a way that is easy to understand. Her support has been crucial in ensuring our firm can provide the best possible legal representation to our clients. We couldn't recommend Stacie highly enough for any organization seeking top-tier immigration legal assistance.

Stacie is the best boss I have ever had. She is a fantastic leader, very organized, and extremely knowledgeable. In the two years I worked with her, she taught me everything I know about immigration law. She patiently explained complicated processes in terms that were easy to understand. Her attention to detail and passion for what she does are an incredibly unique combination; not only does she have the ability to manage complex cases, but she is also driven by a passion to help immigrants and spread knowledge to others so they can do the same.

Hi. I'm Stacie Hammond.
I am a contract attorney based in Memphis, Tennessee, focused on humanitarian-based immigration work. Prior to branching out, I was the Senior Immigration Attorney at Latino Memphis, a nonprofit where I worked for 8 years. In that role, I represented clients in affirmative cases with USCIS, including relative petitions, asylum, U and T nonimmigrant status, and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and in defensive cases before the Memphis Immigration Court, representing clients seeking Asylum, Cancellation of Removal, and Adjustment of Status. From 2013-2015, I served as the Attorney Advisor at the Memphis Immigration Court. I have spoken on panels at conferences for organizations including American Immigration Lawyers Association – both the national organization and the MidSouth chapter; UnidosUS, and American Bar Association’s Children’s Immigration Law Academy. I am a 2012 graduate of Penn State Dickinson School of Law and am licensed in Pennsylvania.
